My dr was off by a long shot on my babies due date!
I was told by my dr. That I would be delivering my twins on dec 10th! I am not I have a new due date from a diff dr. Sep 20th... how could he have been that far off? And this dr is telling me when I see him on the 12th of June that he can tell me the sex of my babies, what should I do? ~stuck in bed with twins~

Figuring out a due date, especially early on, is guesswork based mostly on the date of conception. As the baby develops, modern techniques can better pinpont where in the development cycle the fetus is. So my suspicion is the first doctor based his date on information he got from you, while the second doctor was basing it more on the development of the fetus.

Which do you think is closer to the mark? Going by the Sept. date you would be roughly 24 weeks along. Being a few weeks off here or there is not unsual, but that is quite a discrepancy! Did either of them do a pelvic exam? Early on, that can also give somewhat of an idea of how far you are. An early scan would have also allowed for a guesstimate.
Were your periods regular so that you have a fairly good idea of when you likely became pregnant?
When you go in on the 12th, you will get even more of an update and your due date may or may not change again. You may be able to determine the sex of the babies if they are cooperating... :)

Our first dr. Didn't do a pelvec exam, but the second one did. And the first dr was very profecinal he was excited because I was his first set of twins. So we thought it would be best for me and our little ones to see another dr. Because if something went wrong because he had never delivered twins before I would be very upset with him and myself. But I have had reg periods through this pregnancy so we could go by when my last cycle was. Like we did with our first two pregnancies. This is my 3rd pregnancy and will be our 2nd and 3rd baby so we our hoping for this to go as smoothly as possible and aren't wanting to leave any room for complactions

When you go in on the 12th, they will do an ultrasound and take some measurements of the babies. This will give a better idea of how far along you are... keeping in mind twins many times come a bit sooner than the due date. It never hurts to get a second opinion as you did... I can certainly understand the change to a doctor who has some twin birth experience. Wishing you a smooth pregnancy!

Thanks for your help because my boyfriend doesn't understand why I switched doctors and think I am acting a bit crazy. But I don't want a man who has no idea what he is doing

I wouldn't say he has no idea what he's doing, but I certainly understand why you would want someone expreienced with delivery of twins.

Ahhhh, congrats! Several nights a week, I'm helping a family who just had twin girls... they are too cute! It's exhausting, but fun too... :)
