    Cartiliage piercing
I just got my cartiliage pierced about 3 days ago now.

Its quite a deep read, reasonably hot, not swolen at all though. It keeps building black crusts of dried blood around the holes. Last night it seems to have bled all over my pillow as there was a dried patch of blood on my pillow, I might have knocked it. I'm cleaning it twice a day with saline as instructed.

Is this normal or a sign of infection?
Note that its not heavily hot, just warmer than the other ear, and when I put the cool saline on with a Qtip or cotton bud, I can feel it soothe and feel cool against the heat.

Also I have two piercings there, I had them both at the same time, one ring below the other.

    Thank you

EDIT: it is on the helix, and then just below the helix which is industrial I guess

Hello, I got my ear done about 6 years ago, but I used one of the diy kits, and it didn't go all the way through with the gun. My ear felt like it was going to fall off for a week, and I had the bloody crust, and my ear felt HOT! You basically just put 2 wounds in your ear and the tissues are inflamed. Just keep a very close watch on it. I didn't have any problems with mine, but I only pierced once, and I think it started to feel better by the second week. Also, make sure you use good earrings!

    Thanks that helps a lot

Its stopped bleeding as far as I'm aware, and seems less red so I believe its getting better

As long as it doesn't get infected I don't mind, but infection is what I'm worried about

It is usually like that once you first get it pierced.. it should dbe fine after about 2 weeks.. if you notice a green coloured crust it could be infected... just keep cleaning and everything shouold be OK.. good luck x
