Thank you all, I just want anyone that reads this to think about chained dogs even though it is painful and just maybe spread the word when they have a chance. Not everyone realizes that animals have feelings to.

Graduation is over and I did not shed a tear. Then we took him out to his favorite dinner, we had such a good time. It was not as emotional as when the scholarships and awards were given out. Most of the scholarships were given out to honor a relative that had died. No one had dry eyes that day.

Hey Frangi! I normally use Faber-castell lead pencils HB - 8B, depending on the subject. The softer the pencil the easier to smudge - HB hard, 8B very soft. I like to use Fabriano brand paper 50% cotton (hotpress). That was for Jrebel too sorry I forgot to reply to one of her previous posts.
Maybe the smudging comes from your hand rubbing the drawing as you sketch? Just a thought... I used to do that a lot till I learnt to rest my hand on a piece of clean paper/tissue and sometimes spray each finished portion with fixative before carrying on. I think maybe the spraying works better with charcoal though. (Am I making any sense?)
I keep my work clean by firstly spraying the finished piece then if storing I simply place it between 2 pieces of paper in my art folder or sellotape a waxcoated light paper over the work. Just make sure the sellotape is acid-free, and is near the edges. :)

Jrebel those leaves are truly amazing! Ingenious! If I could I would rate you a green dot! Will you settle for a couple of smileys? :) :)

Very impressive Beauti! Don't spose there's any chance of you uploading it a bit larger? I love the colours. Is it a self portrait maybe? What medium did you use?

Yes, this is a self portrait. I did this my senior year in high school. I used charcole, cloths and an eraser.

Surprisingly enough, I took this photo from my phone camera and it didn't come out bad at all. This portrait is hanging on my apartment wall.

jrebel7: This took me a couple of months to do. I was so excited with how good it came out. I didn't work from a photo at all. I used a miror and a lamp (to get the shading effects). I will most definitely post some more of my artwork later on today.

I have been drawing since I was a little girl. Actually it runs in the family. I have 3 sisters that can draw equally as good. My mother was the basis for this talent. She would always give my sisters and I paper and a pencil.

I love the mirror/lamp for shading effect. Don't know that I would have had the patience for that... glad you did so we could all enjoy it! :p

WOW, I remember our hometown Anabell, she lived at the Alaska Zoo for years. The Alaska Zoo is kind of hokey at least it was when I was a kid and as I grew up I came to appreciate it more. Anyway, Anabell was the elephant that when I was a small child around 3 and 4 I knew who people were talking about when they said her name... I sort of grew up with her and she painted pictures as well. She was a sweet sweet soul. Thanks for sharing! It brought back some great memories!

I was asked by my daughter and her husband to paint a window they found in their attic. They did not want the window painted, just left as it was found (my daughter likes the distressed look but this just looked old and marked to me) but the window panes painted. LOL They didn't have a clue what they wanted on it. I did this in record time, thinking that they would see it and decide they wanted different colors or subject matter and I would be repainting but to my surprise they loved it and hung it on their wall in their den and have now purchased another house and it hangs in their den (which I also posted a photo of where it hangs). I must admit, it got my creative juices flowing and my son-in-law has now located more windows for me to paint for the art show in the fall. I have a better idea now that I did this one of how I want to do it and more of what I would like to achieve. I have been missing seeing everyone's art so am hoping this will remind you to post more of your work. I miss it much. I am putting my pencil drawing on hold except for commission pieces for now.

Oh, glad so many of you enjoyed the link to the "Elephant Painting". That was amazing!!

Looking forward to seeing more of your art work everyone!! :p
