I am replacing an old toilet and found that the toilet was screwed onto the wooden floor (four screws). There was no flange. Is there a flange that can be screwed into the wooden floor?

Absolutley, what type of pipe do you have ? There are a few choices this one is just astandard glue up but there are others for other applications. If I missed anything post on back. GOOD LUCK, AC

Hey Windham:

AC101 has you headed in the right direction... as he asked... what kind of pipe?

If this is as old as you suggest I am wondering if you see a grey pipe in the floor... with the edges peened over about 1" or less... hmmm..

If that is the case, then you have a lead pipe there. Be very careful with this pipe as it can tear quite easily and then will need to be replaced!

If you have lead you can use a brass flange or a repair flange to make this work for you... see pictures.

If you use either the brass or the repair flange, you should just need to set in correct placement/alignment (for johnni bolts to line up) over the old lead pipe and screw the flange down to the floor (covers the peened lead rim of the old lead pipe). Then would use a horned wax gasket (see pic.) to set the toilet bowl and you should be all set.

If not a lead pipe and lets say it is a black cast iron pipe... then using a TWIST AND SET flange (see last pic.) will work fine! But... does not sound like a cast iron pipe.

Thanks for the reply. The pipe is plastic and the last image that you show looks like the one that I can use. Do I have to glue it to the pipe or can I just insert into the pipe?

I would definitley glue it on just be sure to test fit it first. Better to find any problems before glue is applied. If you have black pipe (ABS) then be sure you use the ALL PURPOSE GLUE. If the pipe is white(PVC) then PVC glue should be fine. The type I showed you can be picked up at any Lowe's or home depot. GOOD LUCK, AC
