    Changing Tire Size
I have 265 75 17 size tires on my GMC Sierra 4x4 pickup (4 door, heavy duty). Can 285 70 17's be put on it with no problem (rubbing, etc.). I know it will change the spedometer readings & other computer parts, but I just need to know if they will fit.

Sometimes even though they fit they can cause additional problems to things like the axles. Check with a mechanic other than the one that would be doing the work.

Actually, It won't effect axels at all as long as all four tires are the same. They will indeed fit, your basically putting a slightly taller, thinner tire on your truck. I had a 99 toyota tacoma with 235/65/15R stock and replaced them with 265/75/16R didn't rub. Looked funny but didn't rub

Tire size [ 2 Answers ]

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 with the off road package. My tires now are 265/70/17. I was wanting to know how big of a tire could I get without scrubbing or causing any damage. The tires I have now look like bicycle tires. They just don't fill the gap.
