    Is our Deck Safe?
We had a 10x14 cedar deck (all but the posts) with stairs put up last May- we live in Minnesota, so we only used it about 6 months. Total so far. There are three front support posts and a side support post by the stairs. Within the last few week, the deck sways when you walk on it (or just shake from side to side) and the post by the stairs is significantly bowed. We are worried- Is is normal? Is it structural sound? First time home buyers and deck... Any help or ideas appreciated.

No, it doesn't really sound very stable to me. Doesn't sound like they did a proper job. Only three on front and a side post. What about the other side ? No supports ? Should be more. And what kind of footings did he use ?
