I just had seamless shower doors installed today in my brand new bathroom. This is a new construction not an existing bathroom. To my dismay, there's a 1/2 inch space between the glass door and the adjoining glass attached to the wall as well as at the bottom of the door itself. To cover up the space, they installed a transparent flap that's supposed to close the gap. But it seems to me that the shower will probably leak from all sides. I wanted to find out what's the acceptable maximum gap that can be around and between the glass edges for a seamless shower glass before I go to the contractor and raise my case. :mad: :confused:

I appreciate any advice or guidance. I know the contractor will say the space is fine and this how it should be but it sure doesn't seem right to me. And, over time, that flap will probably need to be replaced. Please respond as soon as possible as I need to get back to the contractor right away.

I've never seen a half inch gap. That is way too much. And I have never seen a flap installed on a frameless piece of glass. Why pay for framelsss if you end up having a frame (even a silicon rubber one)

At the worst, they will have to make a new door. However, they may be able to fix it if they install a wider channel where the fixed pane attaches to a wall. If the fixed pane is attached to another piece of glass at a corner, then perhaps they can change the way the two pieces of glass overlap on each other.

Have you seen the installation packet that came with the door, this does seam way too much space. Who took the measurements for the door and is the door 100% meeting what was oredred.

I have the same problem.I had a frameless glass door put in a new shower with tile The opening between the door when closed is 1/2 inch. This looks too wide for me. How close should the opening be when the door is closed? I am not happy. The installer said I could put a flap in but this tales away from the expensive door.

From all directions I have seen space should not be more then 5/16''.
