    Off the bottle
I have a 13 month old daughter who is still on the bottle. She is a little over weight for her age and height. And I was ordered by her doctor to get her off the bottle by the time she is 15 months. I've tried countless times to get her off, but it just seems impossible! I know I have a few more months left but I don't want to wait until the last minute.
I've tried to go cold turkey like her doctor suggested, but her screams and cries really get to me. I can't stand to see her that way! Anyone have any suggestions?

    Kc... hi ;)
I have four kids, I have been where you are, I understand the agony of having to take something away from your baby. I know it is annoying with the crying and pleading. I promise you one thing, if you stick with it for at least three or four days straight, you will notice it all getting easier. The main problem here is you said you have tried multiple times... you need to DO IT once and that is it. At 12 months it is safe to get her off the bottle. She will need a routine of things before bedtime, a nice snack, a bath time, a story, or what ever you want it to be. Make sure her tummy is full and she is at ease, doing these things tend to help. I helped my son gather his bottles, all of them and we put them into the garbage together, then we took the garbage bag tied it up tight and put the garbage in the big can outside, never to come back inside. I really wish you all the patience in the world, that is what it takes... ;) good luck!

She falls asleep without her bottle. But she wakes up around 3AM then again at 5AM for a bottle. I try not to give her a bottle. I just pick her up and try to put her back to sleep. I've tried practically everything to just put her back to sleep. But nothing has worked. The doctor said it's just habit. But it seems hard to break that habit.

It always is hard to break the habit. It doesn't take forever though, soon she will get too tired, even if you have to get up at five and put her down later for a nap, she will finally fall into routine. I know it seems like a hassle and a discomfort, but within 5-7 days, I bet it will be gone and she and you will be happy. Just do it, I know you can!

Kc what I did was by the book and it worked like a charm.you will have crying for 3-4 days but it's OK just don't give in.whatever the baby likes to drink before bed,put it in a sippy cup&put water in her bottle, then put her to bed.she will pick up the bottle first&then you give her the sippy cup.she gone scream but let her figure out how to get the good stuff which is in the sippy cup.GOOD LUCK!!

Time to be tough, she will stop crying and yelling at some point and time.
You are going to have many of these types of battles, this is a easy one compaired to what is to come, time to be the parent.
