    Crimanl Domestic Violence Conviction
I am a 26 year old male. I live in South Carolina. 1 1/2 years ago, my girfriend and I got into an argument that turned physical. Actually, I was the one that called the police, but in turn, I was charged. She did NOT want to file charges.

I was convicted of this crime and therefore it is on my record. I voluntarily attended and completed Anger Management classes. Since, my girlfriend and I have become engaged, bought a new home and have a 4 month old son.

My problem is that I cannot find gainful employment to support my family. I get through the interviews with no problem, but as soon as HR runs my background check, I'm told that I'm an undesirable employee.

How do I get past this? How do I get the opportunity to explain that it was 1 really bad incident that we both regret happened and that I just want to opportunity to prove that I am not the person that my record indicates. I'm trying desperately to save the most important thing in my life - my family.

This is tough, the thing is that under the newer laws police have to arrest if they are called on a domestic violence call and there is physcial evidence of abuse.

And a domestic crime will even stop you from having several jobs because it will effect your ability to do have certain license.
And because it shows possibility of being physcial when angry it is going to effect jobs even more than some other crimes.
Of course this is what you are finding. You may want to look into constructoin trades and/or working for yourself into some jobs
