    Forclosures and tenants
I found out through a realtor, who had called to ask to show my home, that the house I am renting is in foreclosure and that I probably have only a couple of months to get out. Can I legally stop paying rent until I find a home?

Not unless you want to be evicted in 30 days - give or take.

The answer is, no, you continue to pay rent.

You owe rent to the legal owner of the property. Unitl you are officially informed that the property has changed hands you are required to continue to pay rent to the owner.

Why not see if the owner will assign the mortgage to you rather than lose the property entirely.
