    Dog peeing in the house.
    I have a dog he's about 1 1/2 years old. German shepard mix he's about 40 pounds. Hes been peeing in the house a lot. We just moved a few weeks ago so I'm sure that not helping but he was doing this before to. I know its not we aren't letting him out he goes outside AT LEAST 4 times a day.

    I'm not sure if this matters but he also will pee in his crate during the night too.:(

    I'm just out of ideas to do about this can anyone help me?:(

    You first should take him to the vet to make sure he does not have a bladder infection. When dogs (and cats) have a bladder infection, they pee in the house to get your attention. Also ask to have his sugar level tested.

    Make sure you collect a sample the day of the appointment. The easiest way I have done this trick is to have an old medication bottle well cleansed, dried and ready to go. Follow him with a paper plate that you can easily bend. When he starts to go, place the plate under him. Slightly bend the plate so the urine pours into the bottle.

    If everything checks out, go back to basic house training. When he goes outside, go with him, with is favorite treat in hand. As soon as he goes, praise him and give him the treat. Don't treat him when he comes back into the house because he will think he is being praised for coming back, not pottying outside.

    If he is not neutered, he could be marking.

    Yes, he could be marking. My daughter has rescued three dogs (my grand puppies as I call them). The one is just now reaching the age to be fixed. Until that happens, he can't come over because I have three rescue dogs myself (my girls) and it would be marking central here. In addition, maybe the previous owners had a dog and he is now claiming the house. You made a very good point, thank you.

    The biggest thing that makes me believe there could be a bladder infection is that most dogs will not pee where they sleep. Either the crate is too large and giving him too much room to pee in one end and sleep in the other end or he can't help it.

    There is a lot of good products out there to help clean a pee spot, but what works best and a lot cheaper, plain white vinegar. It will neuralize the smell and when the dog goes back to that spot, he will smell the owner's smell (the vinegar), not his. He then will remember "oops, that got me in trouble before".

    I just moved too, I have a five year old blue tick healer that started marking immediately. He has been house trained since he was a puppy. I am stumped by yours peeing in the crate, but what is working so far for me, is he is supervised in the house, especially in the rooms he has attempted to lift his leg in. It seems to be subsiding and he does not make the attempt as much. Its been about three weeks.

    One thing though, in the room he first lifted his leg in, I could smell pet odor remover and the trash can had a plastic kitty litter tote. So I think that may have been the big trigger. I recleaned with our regular cleaners in the rest of the house and retreated areas that may have already had animal issues.

    You say he goes out "at least 4 times a day" -- good grief! Could you make it without wetting yourself if you were only allowed to go 4 times a day??
