    Blackish blue bump
On the outer (er, majora?) labia I have this one sort of black/blue (can't really tell for sure) raised bump. It's pretty painful, but only when pressure is applied on it (like when I walk normally). I'm a bit worried, and I know the best advice is to go to the gyno, but I'd like a bit of insight before-hand. It's the only one there, and I clean normally, don't use any fragrant soaps, and have held off shaving or trimming for a while since I wanted a break for a while. I am also not sexually active, and since I'm also a virgin I know I don't have any STDs. I'm pretty sure I had a bump in the same spot earlier that I passed off as an ingrown hair, and I thought it went away. My worry is it's the same thing but has gone to a different stage or something. I looked it up on Google and got some sort of cancer, so as you can guess I'm not exactly optimistic right now. However, I'm not having any other problems so I'm pretty sure that isn't it - at least I hope. No weird discharge, odd smells, pain while peeing, etc... The bump is not giving off any pus or anything. When I push it down, it hurts a bit, and feels like there is something inside of it, though it isn't hard or anything - just feels like there's something there. I'm going to try and get some cream for it if I can find something that fits the description before I go to the doctor and possibly get a description for it. I'm still really young and I've actually never had a real exam or anything in "that area" other than just quick checks when I go in for a regular check-up. I haven't had any previous problems, so I guess that's why I haven't really been for this before and that also explains why I'm nervous about it. I'm also wondering how I'm going to get there since it hurts so bad, haha :/

Sorry for the lengthy message, but I just want as good as an opinion as I can get for this, because I want to have a good idea rather than something given from a vague description that could make me freak out. (Like the cancer thing)

    Thank you.

I had the same thing. It was an infected ingrown hair. Is the bump kind of soft? Mine was. I simply popped it, and drained the pus. I kept neosproin on it. Mine was on my upper inner thigh though.

And if you are over 16, I would suggest getting a regular pap smear. And then ask about this bump then. Even though you are not sexually active, a pap is a good idea. They check for any abnormalities, and cancer. It's a good thing to do yearly.

Yeah, it is kind of soft. I'm too afraid to pop it though - that is one of my phobias :s And I'm not sure if it's the same thing since yours was in a totally different area. Someone suggested to me it could be a Bartholin's Gland Cyst but I'm not really sure about it.

Thanks for you help though. If you have any other ideas that popping it, that would be lovely. :x

I think the best idea is to go to the doctor. I know that's not what you want to hear, but that's the best thing to do. And since you said you've never had a pap smear, that makes the idea even better.

    How old are you?

I'm only 14. But if I can, I'm going to go tomorrow - because I really can't deal with this when I have gym class daily.

    Thanks again.

Have you talked to your parents about this? Your mom might have some more information than we do.

Yep, she's just about as clueless as I am about it.

Ah, well, hopefully I'll find out tomorrow. It's not really that big yet so I'm not entirely concerned. Just the pain is the only thing bothering me..
