I would like to add a little more memory to my laptop.
I have a junker laptop I leave mounted in my truck. It's a Compaq Armada E500, really old computer. I had it cleaned out and Windows reinstalled on it... But it still seems to run a little slow, It even stalled out on me once and froze during start up to print a receipt. Is there a way to add memory or Gigs to this old friend of mine? I'm afraid I'll order the wrong parts and end up with the same problems. Right now I have a Linskys wireless hooked up, and I have another slot available. Could I add a memory stick or Gigs there?
Any advice on how to improve this computer for a couple hundred dollars or less would be appreciated. Thanks

Compaq Armada E500 RAM Compaq Laptops Memory RAM Upgrade

It probably came with 128mb ram (not much) it looks as if you can upgrade it to 512mb
This would be a definite help and you would be able to see it.

To get 512, you would have to purchase 2 - 256mb ram chips can't be more than $130
And if you have a friend or you feel comfortable with intalling it, or have a tech do it

The ram you buy would have to be PC100 SDRAM SODIMMs RAM

The only thing out there now that may help for XP is a program called eboostr, it runs next to the clock on the taskbar and you can use usb flash (thumb drives) to help out, this may be an option to help out. You would need to have an open usb port on the laptop and you could use 2-4gb flash memory drives.
    eBoostr.com

Upgrading the physical memory would be of more benefit but this option is avail and you can always upgrade the physical memory and alos use the eboostr program
