Mosul is purportedly the last area in Iraq where al Qaeda has a degree of sanctuary. They are being supplied from Syria into Mosul .Fourteen of the top 30 AQ operatives who have been killed or captured in the past three months were AQ leaders in Mosul.

I'm not sure what techinques the Iraqis use on captors. I bet he wishes it was the Americans who got him instead. I imagine panties on the head beats what he has in his future.

It was probably a mistake to announce his capture. When we got the AQ laptop we withheld the news for a couple of weeks. Announcing al Masri's capture so soon after it happened probably greatly reduced the value of any intelligence gained from it.

Now the US military is denying he was captured.

John Batchelor always says in war information ,the first 2 things you hear are always false. I've also heard that there is a 48 hour rule .

The US of course can not get invovled with his capture or his prisoinment, since we would have to demand specific rights given, and our military aware of his treatment may be liable for not preventing it. So it is much better not to know about it at all.

I am sure that if we offered them full salad bars, all you can eat, clean clothes, religious freedoms and medical care he would be so scared to death he would give up all his info.
