    Sooty black residue in tub
We have recently remodelled the bathroom, keeping the tub but with new hardware. Recently upon filling the tub, spots of a black greasy substance are found floating in the water. It will adhere to body and tub, difficult to clean off. Not evident in other sinks, although the tub is the only spout without a filter. Any ideas as to what this might be and what the source is?

How long did the tub sit idle? Are you on a well or municiple water? Do you have copper or plastic water piping? If you have copper, what brand of flux was used? What does the water from the tub smell like? Has the tub backed up since the remodel?

Answer Dougs questions. Have you ran the water in the tub to flush out the supplies? Is it still ongoing or has it stopped? Talk to us? Tom
