NEW Bryant Evolution HP Installed today! Confused.
Hi,
Facts:
Today they will finish a brand new install of a Bryant Heat Pump Evolution 288ANA(4Ton) with a FE4A006 (Modular with 3/4 HP ECM) and an Evolution Comfort Control Unit.
Questions:
#1 - The Unit was sold in the proposal as a 19 SEER but the Condenser includes an Energy Star Yellow Tag claiming that it is rated only at 16.8 SEER Only. I was told that the FAN COIL and the Comfort Control Thermostat increases the SEER to 19 or 18.8 SEER. Is this true technically speaking?
#2 - There is a lot of bad mouthing everywhere about going with the right company or they will screw up the installation and consequently killing the units or no achieving the proper energy efficiency. How as a Homeowner know or check that they did it right? Or what questions should I ask to confirm the proper install?
Thank you very much in advance...
PS- I think this website is very helpful, but last night I lost a lot of sleep because of the problems exposed here with High end units like mine which is costing us a lot of money with hopes to save on Oil next winter.

The ECM motor will add around 1 seer to the efficiency, provided static pressure in the air distributions system is low. I'm not sure how the themostat helps the cooling efficiency.
I have not yet messed with the Evoloution equipment, maybe a Carrier/Bryant dealer will ring in on this one.

You have to watch for companies replacing the inside coil with a non-Bryant brand such as Supercoil. The SEER is ONLY RATED for the system as tested by Bryant. For instance, the dealer must certify that the system is installed as outlined to qualify for the energy credit that was available last year. Not sure if it is still available.

As a home owner you really cannot check if they did it corectly. If you are that concerned I would contact another company and pay them to come out and do a complete inspection of your system.
The unit you mentioned is a very high end piece and Carrier/Bryant usually does not sell that equipment to dealers unless you have gone to there school for proper training. At least that is the case in this area with the distributer.

The good thing about the evolution is that the thermostat will tell you if its wrong. It knows runtimes High and low blower RPM all faults from date of install with the serial numbers of the equipment. It's a comunicating system at all times to let you know if all is well. If not malfunction will apear on the thermostat screen to let you know heat or air is not working right whether it be voltage, refrigerant pressure, static pressure in the duct or just low or high voltage problems. Don't worry it will let you know.
