It may already have been mentioned, but I couldn't see the following:-
I not only love you for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you (or something like that) by author Elizabeth Barrett Browning :)

I thought that was a line from the poem by Roy Croft... but I could be mistaken...
Recognized it, because it is the definition of love to me...
Love
I love you
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.
I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can't help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find
I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple.
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.
I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good.
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.
By Roy Croft

It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity. I bet this kind of thing does not happen to heroin addicts. I bet that when serious heroin addicts go to purchase their heroin, they do not tolerate waiting in line while some dilettante in front of them orders a hazelnut smack-a-cino with cinnamon sprinkles. ~Dave Barry

I really like a lot of the older pop and rock tunes. One song that I started to listen to again recently, is by Dan Folgelberg who passed away not all that long ago. It's the song "Leader of the Band." It is about his father who was a high school band director at a school that is not too far away from my home in the state where I live.
Among the other fine lyrics in that song, a couple that really stand out for me are the following:
"A quiet man of music
Denied a simpler fate..."
(Found at, http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dan+fogelberg/leader+of+the+band_20035787.html )
The above quote speaks volumes to me in it's profundity and truth!
If you know how hard it is for any one to make it in the music industry and/or to teach music in some way in schools or privately, I'm sure that you know exactly where I'm coming from with those few words speaking volumes!

~What you perceive, your observations, feelings, interpretations, are all your truth. Your truth is important. Yet it is not The Truth.~
(I don't know where it came from, only that I use it A LOT!)
~The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, relies on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins. (Unknown)

Your first quote is very interesting. (Your second one is too, for that matter.) But, I would appreciate knowing how and why you use the first quote a lot, please? Thank you!

HC, could you reference this? I went back through, trying to connect your comment to a "quote". Maybe I am just slow today but would appreciate if you could direct me. Thanks.

I think it was about a poem that someone wrote for their girlfriend... If I remember correctly, they posted it with the question, "Is this corny?" I enjoyed the poem and thought that it defined love... :)
Why you ask?

I have a very strong work ethic. I do my job to the best of my ability and am willing to help others around me even when it puts a time crunch on me. There are always those who will try to take advantage of those willing to go to the "nth degree to help others" and I had to adopt my own "Work Motto" to be discerning in these situations.
"I am service oriented
BUT
Not user friendly!" ~~~ Jan Bolinger
As long as I keep that in my mind, I am able to know when to say "no" to those who are just trying to get out of their own work.
I've said it verbally at work from time to time but with a smile on my face and love in my heart! LOL

Generally, when a person is commenting on a post, they use "Quote User" to reference their comment unless it is just below the original post. I looked back through several pages but I could have just missed it. I was just wanting to read the poem but didn't locate it. I thought you might be able to direct me so I could read it. I will just keep looking. Thanks.
