How to calculate the length of PEX for basement
I want to install PEX in my basement slab. Is there a calculator available or some method for working out what length of tubing I will need?
    Thanks Phil

Are you using this for heating or to rough in the water supply?

    Hey PHIL:

All depends on exactly how you plan to run your pipes.

PEX defines three systems... (1) the trunk and branch method, (2), the remote manifold method, and (3) the homerun manifold method.

Check out this link below. Concentrate on chapter #7... describes all of the above and gives great examples for piping homes/condominiums/townhouses, etc. Scroll down the page to find "Free residential pex water supply plumbing system design". Click on that, brings you to 128 page PDF file that explains everything you will need to know about PEX.. again, focus on chapter #7 to begin.

It will depend on square footage of area to be heated and what centers you plan on running the tubing. A rule of thumb is that you don't want any one run or loop to be over 300'. So you could end up with several loops. Hope this is what you're looking for.
