    93 Civic dx Won't Start
How yah fellas doing ? I just need some help getting my 93 civic dx back on the road. I haven't drive the car for at least 3yrs now. Anyway, I start with replaced my old fuel pump, fuel filter & clean out the entire fuel tank by did the following (drained all fuel, unbolt and wash the inside of the tank and put it back on).

The fuel is fine and it does delivering fuel to the fuel filter. I knew this by losing the bolt from the fuel filter to the fuel rail... fuel spraying when I turn the key to "ON" position. The problem I have right now is spark. I remember a week ago I tried to used the screw driver stick in the spark plug wire and set it close to ground and has a weak spark (only at that one time). Now, I tried it again I don't see anything happen. I even used one of my spare spark plug, I connectted to the spark plug wire and ground the part of the plug to the frame, cranked but still no spark. I opened the distrubitor cap and checked, I realize that there isn't any screw that hold that spinning thingy to the motor... isn't that causing the problem not having any spark ? The civic currently has 122k on it. Should I change the coil, igniter, or what ? Thanks.

Yes, replace the rotor. If the car still doesn't start, focus on the ignitor and coil. Here's how to change them out, should you need to:

Sorry, I'm new to mechanical. What you mean by replace the rotor ? You mean that spinning thingy touch the 4 spark plug connectors from the inside ? Without the crew I was able to pull that thing out and inspect ? I don't see any damage it looks new. Does that missing screw cause not having any spark ? Is the coil is the thing that with the spring stickout when you open the distributor cap ? Is there any ways I can test to see if the igniter & the coil are working properly ? Thanks

Yes. You need to replace the missing screw. AutoZone can test the ignitor and coil for free.

I went to Autozone test both the coi & ignitor. The coil is fine but they said the ignitor is bad. I found a rebuilt completed distributor on eBay for $80 shipped. You think I should get that one or just buy the ignitor for my distributor ? The ignitor will cost me $33 shipped. The one I have is old plus I have to buy the screw for the rotor and have to change the cap? etc. What is your suggestion ?

I would install a new ignitor and rotor screw.
