    Grounds to relunquish parental rights
    What grounds do you have to have to relinquish a fathers parental rights to a child?

    Abuse and Abandonment are the two big ones. Different states have different rules.

    I hesitate to even comment as there are some people on here that have very opinionated opinions on this topic. However, if you care to tell me your state I will look up their laws and send you the link so you can read them.

    Everyone deserves a truthful, honest answer.

    A parent's ONLY grounds to relinquish their rights is to give way for an adoption. The other parent can petition the court to terminate rights either to pave the way for adoption or because the parent being terminated present a danger to the child.
