Hillary the queen of pork ?
She claims to be a reformer ,a budget hawk. But the facts speak a different story .

    TheHill.com - Clinton: $2.3B in earmarks

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) has requested nearly $2.3 billion in federal earmarks for 2009, almost three times the largest amount received by a single senator this year.

The Democratic presidential candidate's staggering request comes at a time when Congress remains engaged in a heated debate over spending federal dollars on parochial projects.

It also has gained traction on the campaign trail. Presumptive GOP nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), a longtime foe of earmarks, has called for eliminating what he dubs "wasteful Washington spending." Democratic front-runner Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) has spurned earmarks, seeking no funds for pet projects in the upcoming fiscal year.

Yet Clinton is continuing to request billions for earmarks, most of which will go to her home state.

The money is needed for homeland security, emergency response and health projects throughout New York, according to documents provided by her office.

I have no doubt that some of the funding request represents legitimate issues that need to be prioritized . However ;the real question is that if that is the case ,then why doesn't she author legislations to deal wth them and usher them through the proper process instead of adding them on as riders to unrelated legislation ?

    ...

There is one sure way to decide the Democrat nomination quagmire for good .

We josh about how Hillary was 'coronated'; but the reality is those that put her in her position have told her what she is and isn't going to do. My recollection is that NY state has been in 'the black' when comparing dollars to Washington and dollars from Washington.

This was based on a 2004 study so the info may have changed a little .
    http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/29/ny...29economy.html

Actually NY pays more into the Fed. Coffers then it receives by a large sum. That really wasn't my point. My point was the process Evita chose to solicit the revenue share. I think perhaps she has too much time invested in the campaign so she has not taken the time to create spending bill using the correct process .
Some of her requests in the past were ridiculous .But some, given the unique position that the NYC area has as a primary potential target are not out of line.
