    Unfit parent?
I am 16 years old my mother is a drug abuser. She is constantly in a bad mood with out her drug. She yells at only me and blames me for the bills and has left me home for 3 to 4 dys with out food or drink before. I want to move in with my grandma and start a better life but she def. will not let me go that easy! What are the chances of my grandma getting custody of me? My mother may not physically hurt me but the mental abuse is just as bad !! I can't TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!

I am sorry for you trouble, mothers and fathers are suppose to be there to protect us. I will have to ask where your father is, because normally he would be the one next in line for custody.

But if your mother will not let you just go, you will have to start reporting your mothers behavior to family and children services

Absolutely agree with above. Child protective service needs to be called so they can get you into the proper home (with your grandparents) and she can get the help she needs. There is no excuse for her behavior, but there is hope for both of you. I wish you all the best of luck, sweety.

Your situation sucks but the alternatives can be even worse. If your grandparents or father aren't found to be suitable & capable guardians, you face being placed in a group home and there is a place where you can learn the true meaning of abuse. I've heard some real horror stories.

You could speak with your grandparents and see if they'll opt to take custody of you. It can get legal quickly and then get pretty nasty and people you love will definitely get hurt.

Or, you could get a job after school and work late. You'd kill 2 birds with one stone. You'd have to see a lot less of your mother and if you ever want to move out on your own you'll probably need one anyway. If you start now you can save up so in 2 years or less, when you turn 18, you can leave promptly. I wouldn't put my money in a bank though if I were you. I'd hide it somewhere you know for sure that your mother will never find it. Maybe the grandparents can protect it for you?

    Best of luck.
