I have a hampton bays ceiling fan. Remote model #uc7073t. My children played with the 4 diget frequencie switch and ahanged the code... What is the corect code... PLease:)

Generally, remote controls like this have two parts:

1. The remote control itself
2. The receiver unit inside the fan

Both will have these DIP switches in them, and the codes must match. You could climb up on a ladder, take the fan apart, and see what the code is there... OR...

Since there are only 4 switches, you have only 16 possibilities for the code. Start with all switches in the remote control unit in the down position. See if it works. NO? Flip one switch up and see if it works. NO? Flip another switch up and see if it works... In an average of 8 attempts, you should find the code.

Why the strange sequence? Well, you might notice that between each try we only have to flip one switch. This is called Gray Code. A normal Binary counting would cause us to have to flip 1,2, or 3 switches between tries. :D

Once you know the correct code, write it on the battery cover or somewhere convenient. The next time the kids mess it up;) , you'll be able to instantly go back to the correct code.

These guys are right. Guessing and checking is the only way, short of opening the fan up and matching the codes. Whichever is easier for you.

We've just purchased a house that has five ceiling fans that have remote controls. Three work fine but the remotes won't work on two of the fans. The two fans that don't respond to the remotes will turn on with the wall switch but the lights don't turn on. I've tried the code combinations with a good remote but no luck. Any suggestions?

First, check and see that the codes match those in the fan.

Next try matching the codes in those remotes to WORKING fans to see if the remotes are the problems. If they also control the working fans, then you know they are fine and the issue is the receivers in the non-working fans.
