    Step parent adoption
My son's biological father signed over all rights to my son, and in March of 05 everything was finalized. He hasn't seen my son since oct 04. I recently married and am now expecting my second child. I was wondering what would/ could stop my husband from adopting my 3 year old son. And how lengthy of a process is it

Go to the courthouse and ask for adoption papers. I don't remember how long it takes (I was adopted when I was just 8) sorry

If the bio father signed over the rights to allow adoption, there are varoius levels or signing over rights, If the bio father signs off he is OK with the adoption it is fairly easy

Sorry, but it's not that easy - the process depends on the State.

In most States you will need an Attorney to walk you through the process but if the father has already legally surrendered the child it is relatively simplistic and easy.
