Guide to making your comic a animation
Hi there! I'm a friend of someone on this web site (hi sailor time!:) ) and we are both interested in the same thing witch is making our own manga and anime. Now I was wondering if there's anybody on this web site/post who is a comic artist or animator (don't get me wrong someone who is regular and not a comic artist can help too.) who knows how to guide you through making your animation from your own manga/comic that you drew. Like if your supposed to tell the story different from the comic, etc.

By that I mean if I'm supposed to tell the manga story one way and I'm supposed to tell the anime story another way. As in if they're supposed to be a whole lot different.

Of course, this is completely your choice!~

I mean, if it is YOUR manga, and YOUR anime, then feel free to change whatever plot you wish and vary from each other.

In my opinion, I like it when the animation stays true to the comic. But, I don't mind extra episodes. ;P

Hi... im an animator... ive been animating for 3 years now professionally... but have been animating since I was a teenager... hope I can help

Well anime (or animation in general) is a team effort. Doing a manga or comic book can be a one man job (or two in your case). My suggestion would be, work on doing a short film of your manga, somehting that is between 4-5 minutes long. You can use flash, which a lot of professional animators use as well, or try other software like toonboom, or bauhaus's mirage (I think its hard to find these days but its one of the best).

As for how to approach doing an anime, well its not very different from doing a comic (thats in terms of story and characters and so forth).. the difference comes in actual produciton.

U need to know how to draw first of all (assuming you have a comic you probably can)... u need to read about animation techniques and principles (a good book is The animators survival kit by richard williams)...
Start with storyboards... then a rough animatic (thats your storyboards put together as a film)... then rough animation (dont focus on details... just the main motion of the characters)... clean up (redrawing the frames but with clean lines... hence the name "clean up")... then ink and paint... which is basically coloring it in...

Its a lot of info... but animaiton is a lengthy process...

The only other way other than this... is to hire someone to do it...

If I were u... id read about animation (how to do it)... and just start experimenting...

    Good luck

Thank you a lot!:) This information is very helpful! And I've found some videos about the animators at there jobs! It can be lengthy as you said but I think it's worth it. I've done a little simple animation. (Nothing big.) :p

Do you think that you might be posting a link to your simple animation on this site if it's available on a link? I would enjoy seeing it as I am sure that others would also!
