Do renters have rights if the home they live in is sold in foreclosure?
Our landlord of five years is in foreclosure and the home we are living in has been sold to a real estate company. Do we have any rights as tenants or can they kick us out with no notice? We don't have a lease. We have lived the past four years month to month with the verbal agreement of a one month notice if we decided to move out. A person "from the bank" with no form of identification stopped by one week ago and informed us of a cash for keys program the buying company offers. I have called the number provided daily, and only spoken to a person once. None of my messages have been returned and every day the same person "from the bank" comes by and tells me to call the number with in 5 days, four days, etc. or else they will get the police involved. We aren't trying to fight the eviction or get the police involved, we know we have to leave, we just want to know how long we have to get out, legally.

It depends on what state you are in here in va its 30 days or if you or someone in yourhousehold is handicaped they have to give you a while longer. But, they have to give you at least 30 days by law PERIOD!!
