Time-Warner remote won't work with Olevia TV
I recently bought an Olevia 232T HD LCD TV and have Time-Warner cable. They furnished me with a remote control, Universal URSU-8700L. However, I can't it programmed to turn the TV on and off. I have tried all the codes listed in the manual for Olevia TV's, but none of them work and I have tried the auto-search method for over an hour, but still can't get it to work. Anybody else have this problem, or can anyone offer a solution?

I would try the search method again, some can take a couple hundred presses, be sure TV is on and a clear unobstructed path between remote and TV. Sometimes you will get bored pressing the button, TV will go off, but you press again by accident. Some you can just hit Channel down to go back to the last code, then press Enter(or whatever the remote instructions say. Be sure the remote is switched to TV.

Thanks for you response. I tried again and made sure there was no obstructed view of the TV, and followed the manuals instructions to the letter, but still can't get it to turn the TV on or off. The manual said I could press either the up or down channel button to search for the code. However, I pressed it 500 times, but it never did turn the TV off. I'm stumped .

During that time of 500 presses, was a red led lit?

Yes, the red TV button flashed every time I presses the channel up key. The manual said that alternately I could keep the channel up key pressed and it would work the same. I tried that also and held it for 10 minutes while the TV button red light kept flashing on and off while searching for the Olevia code, but apparently never found it.

I don't know what else to suggest.
I question the hold down method.
Try to get the remote to learn a different TV to be sure learning sequence is exact.

Yes, the remote learned a different TV, just won't work with the Olevia in spite of the codes listed in the manual. Time-Warner said to bring the remote back in and they will give me another model that should work. Hopefully that will correct the problem. Thanks for you input, though.

    No it will not work.
Only option right now is a different universal remote.
I understand SONY's works but forget Tim Warner or Olveia's

You're right, Time Warner gave me another remote, but it won't work with Olivea either. So right now I'm using a Radio Shack universal remote. But would still rather have a Time Warner remote if they ever get one that will work on this Olevia TV.
