zhandyman - you will need to run at least a #6,no less then a #5and you will have to run the rebar both ways and be tied togreather and set them at just about middleof concrete pour . You can use premade bridges or something to hold the rebar up off the deckgood luck & god bless ;;;; f.b.e.

You can try using some Fiber mesh added to the concrete for some added strength als you may want to dig a hole in a couple places maybe a foot deep also for added strength and keep the pad wet. Concrete cures harder and better when keep wet...

Zhandyman - I would put them(THE REBAR ) at least 12" apart each way.. R8dr421f - Was right on the type of concrete to use , I have used it a lot of times and it is really good. make sure that your back fill is compacted really good , If you can the best kind is ( RED SAND WITH SOME DIRT , It compacted good , another way is to wet it down good for a few times, Useing rebar plus the fibermesh concrete you should not have to put the extra pot holes unless you want to . For the first 24 hrs good to keep water on the concrete ,while its in its first part of cureing, thats after it has set up and finished (Oh HOLD THE REBAR BACK FROM THE EDGES AT LEAST 2" to 3" from the edges) Good Luck & GOD BLESS:::: F.B.E.
