    Hello,

"I just feel that everything being in her name gives her the upper hand."

I agree with that statement, because I am in a similar situation and I feel the same way. My fiancé and I bought a house together, but only his name is on the mortgage and on the title. I feel very vulnerable in this situation, because I already put money down and I'll be paying part of the mortgage, and other bills related to the house. At the same time my name is not on the legal documents.

I am also trying to get my name added to the title, but it looks like that financially would be better to do it after we are married.

So should I ask him to sign an agreement in the mean time and what kind of agreement should that be?

    Thank you for your comments.

So what kind of agreement should I ask my fiancé to sign, to priotect my rights as well?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

Yes, its called a contract. Have an attorney draw one up to protectyour interests.

Yes you have a contract written and signed, perhaps you even put a lien on the home for the money you put in to it.

I would say you definitely need to get something legal in writing because as it is anything you put into the house before you are married would be considered not much more than rent. Usually once you are married then it is suppose to be 50/50 and if you got divorced you should get something out of it. So it is before you get married you need to be more concerned about. Keep all your receipts.
