    Hello,

I guess this Mr. Camping things he knows more the Jesus himself.

Notice the words of the bible book of Mark 13: 32-37:
32 “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father. 33 Keep looking, keep awake, for YOU do not know when the appointed time is. 34 It is like a man traveling abroad that left his house and gave the authority to his slaves, to each one his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to keep on the watch. 35 Therefore keep on the watch, for YOU do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether late in the day or at midnight or at cockcrowing or early in the morning; 36 in order that when he arrives suddenly, he does not find YOU sleeping. 37 But what I say to YOU I say to all, Keep on the watch.”

Jesus told his disciples to keep on the watch because he being the master, doesn't even know. Also in 2 Peter 3:10 we are told: “10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.'

Does a thief tell the home owner when they will rob them? Of course no, also God's timetable is different then ours. 2 Peter 3:8 8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” Why would God, let us know and not his son Jesus? God doesn't want Hypocrites to serve him for a time, day or hour. They do what they want to and a few months, days or hours because the don't want to suffer, would all of sudden turn to him. If we live our life each day with love for God and mankind, we would not need to know a time.

Peace to all and tomorrow will come,
    Hope12

Mr, Camping does what all denominations do - pick what's important in the bible. This isn't news.

No, I don't think denominations pick so much as interpret the same passages differently.

Camping did even more than that -- he read stuff into it that wasn't there.

According to that article Camping received and spent $100 million on his campaign proclaiming the end of the world. Wow. People actually gave this guy $100 million!

Maybe those people that send spam asking you to help them take $10 million out of their country and they'll split it with you, just send $250, aren't so out of their minds. It seems that there are plenty of people that will fall for it.

    First to Depressed,
I hope you feel better now!

    Second to HeadStrongBoy,
So, are you going to man up and admit that all your (or Camping's) scripture quotes and math were, at best the delusions of a fool and at worst, a scam to get money from his followers?

This brings up an interesting point. I wonder if all those fools who gave Camping money or spent money based on his prediction can mount a class action suit against him. The man has a net worth in 9 figures!

What is truly sad is the number of people who were deceived. It only goes to show how hungry people are for something to grasp onto. They will run to any one who offers any hope, but turn from God and his unfailing love.

I did not read all the comments on this OP yet.
My observation is the Bible says no one knows when...

Now that we know that the Rapture didn't happen... or that too few people qualified... can we show the same degree of skepticism and doubt when secular apocalypse chicken littles sell their end of the world pablum ?

    Hi Tom,

I guess the difference is that scientific prediction tends to be more accurate. When it comes to science we can check the calculations in order to determine the prediction. If a massive asteroid was heading toward earth and it was expected to pass within a few thousand miles of our planet there would be some type of percentage possibility it will hit. Provided we can trust Newton's calculations; which we can, predictions will match observations.

I also guess the Bible is not good as specific predictions and I am not sure it even purports to. Having said all of that I suspect you have an agenda you want to push. Global warming, climate change?

How many billions of dollars have been spent to address the prophet of doom... the cult of Al the Goracle of Tennessee ?
But it is not only environmental... it's economical ,geo-political doomsday predicitions .
Those decisions made to address those prophesies have affected humanity much more profoundly that religious kooks .I have not seen evidence that scientists ,politicians ,economists ,have a better track record of predicting the future than the Bible ,or Nostradamus ,or any other false prophet .

Let's not take this off on a tangent. No more on other doomsday theorists here.

Right, this topic has effectively ended so if you want to discuss something else, then start a new thread.

I am happily here today!! When 6:00 hit at my place, I was drinking a Carona and a shot of Jack Daniels. Not only was I not afraid at that moment, but the entire day ended up being a great day and a very beautiful day as well! Good to be here and see that you all are doing well!

The people in North Minneapolis didn't bother with the Rapture for that--they just waited until the tornados yesterday. Last night, we had a curfew in Minneapolis for the first time since the 1960s and the race riots then.

I'm not disappointed at all, honestly. I'm having too much fun making fun of the whole thing.

Has Camping made a statement yet? He was in hiding over the weekend, but I thought he would have said something today.

Has Headstrongboy posted at all on the site? I haven't seen him in a few days. I really wonder if he'll keep his promise and come here to admit that he was wrong.

Ben, did you marinate the crow? You could do a slow roast on the bbq with beer, just shove the beer bottle up the crows butt and bbq. It's really good with chicken, and after all, most birds taste like chicken, right? ;)

When I was researching and writing my book on Texas missions, I found a primary source -- one of the missionaries had kept a journal. It was winter and the supply wagons hadn't come through yet, so the mission people were forced to hunt crow for food (apparently in plentiful supply and easy to shoot). The journaling missionary wrote about how horrible the crow meat was and how they spent the rest of the winter inventing recipes with various herbs and sauces in order to make the meat somewhat palatable. They cried tears of joy when the supply wagons finally arrived.

I can't see crow tasting good. I myself could never eat it. Not because of the taste, although that would definitely be a turn off, but because my father once had a pet crow.

He actually climbed a tower to steal a baby crow from a nest. The Queen (who was still in residence at the castle by the tower) called my Oma to tell her that her son was on the tower, and the Queen was worried.

The crows name was Jacob. My dad had him for years, and he was very tame. The neighbor shot him one day, because he was squawking. :(
