I'm 20, my girlfriend is 16 her parents and my parents are OK with it.
Our relationship is not sexual currently because she is underaged. Can I still get in legal trouble if both our families know the age gap? One of her friends hates me, and keeps threatening to say that we're having sex. She's the only one who has a problem with it. My girlfriend's parents love me and my parents love my girlfriend so I don't think they'd report me. Especially since they know we're not doing anything.

    Hello u:

You can't get into trouble even if NOBODY knew... Dating an underage girl is NOT the problem. Having sex with her is.

I haven't found any places that make dating illegal. However, different places have not only have laws about intercourse but other forms of sexual contact as well. To be safe, look up the laws in your location. If you are in the US, your state's website should have a link to the state laws.

While its unusual for a 20 yr old to be involved with a 16 yr old, as long as no sexual contact is involved AND the parents approve you are OK.

Yes, the issue will come if you start to be sexual, and/or if her parents change their mind

If what you say is true, then her friend would have to lie to get you in any trouble. Some friend. Sounds jealous, and that could be a problem, but you have truth on your side.
