But all said and done, what I believe is that we all create our own reality from the thoughts we entertain.

Therefore, what we are discussing and comparing is your reality and my reality and they are very different. Not wrong just different.

Truth? A tough start in life left me searching for a way to survive. I haunted book stores and libraries. Then I found The Masterkey. It appealed to me a lot, I didn't take much of it in to begin with but returned to it again and again over the years.

I think you would have to read it for this discussion to continue. And perhaps you might like to recommend a book from your reality.

I went to the PsiTek link that you provided and read the Introduction, the Foreword, Part One and the associated Study Questions. As far as I can tell, it is an adaptation and modernized restatement of the principles of Kabbalah, the mystical tradition within Jewish culture and thought. I very much respect and agree with the basic ideas involved, though I do think Haanel tends to oversimplify and oversell them somewhat. I've signed up for the weekly email installments of the lessons, so we'll see how that goes.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by "reality". If you mean the outer world of events and circumstances, then I would say we all inhabit the same one, (allowing for differences of time and place of course). If you mean the inner interpretation and meaning we each ascribe to these events and circumstances, then each person's "reality" is different.

I think anybody who goes through life getting what they want will find in the end that they have indeed been a fool.

I've never had a need or want for all these self-help books or systems. I really don't get it to be honest. Life isn't that complicated: take responsibility for your own actions, have something resembling of a five year plan that gets updated continuously, live within your means (learn good basic finance early in life), hang with nice people and avoid the toxic ones. Find out what you like to do and find a way to get paid to do it. Life is what you make it.

Have you always known that life is that simple?

I only started to live when I was twenty. I had a lot of catching up to do and Self-Help books played a big part in that. I had two little children whom I didn't want to suffer because I grew up hating the world and his wife. So I am happy to say that I had at least enough sense to look for what I felt I needed from people who had coped with and survived what I was now struggling to come to terms with.

Some people are just born lucky and I think you must have been one of those.

Don't know anything about that therefore can't comment.

I'm glad he did oversimplify or I might not have been able to understand it. And the oversell is more in the way of repetition in order to get the message through. As in the way we use affirmations.

This is a hard one. I think it begins with the world within but reflects in the world without. And since it comes down to what I am thinking, I am thinking and trying to be positive about the things around me. Sounds rather selfish but I'm still figuring it out. I go along with.... That if we all improve the quality of our own life then that will improve the quality of Life in general.

Like everyone being willing to clean their own doorstep makes for a nicer neighbourhood.

Don't take that the wrong way. I just meant to continue to discuss it we should have some idea of where we are each coming from.

It's not about getting everything we want. It's more about getting EVERYTHING we think about, good and bad, positive and negative. And what we are trying to do is get more positive than negative things.

I hear you. But for me it's like I come from the opposite direction. When I read some of the posts here I struggle to be sympathetic sometimes. I hope that doesn't sound too harsh. But I wish all I had to worry about back then was some guy cheating on me.

I guess that's what I was aiming for. Been a bit of a tough road though.

How old are your children?

When this post was first made I didn't understand it. But a recent event has made me understand it a little.

In the past 4 months I have became close friend with this girl that I knew from high school. We always knew each other. I know that she's a nice person, and she knew the same about me. But we never became friends, because we only had 2 classes together through out the 4 years of high school. I was also not at school much, because well let's just say that it wasn't one of my best experiences in life.

So after we graduated from high school, we would occasionally say random messages to each other on msn, but we never actually have a conversation. Then 2 years after graduation, one day we started talking over msn. And the next thing I know we became close friends that hang out every weekend LOL..

It turns out that she lived only 2 minutes driving distance away from me.. and our personality really matched. I can't believe she's as weird as I am.

I'm still really surprise that we're good friends now, but I'm really grateful that it happened.
