To address your original question: What can you do to get your ex-boyfriend back...
There is nothing you can do to make him come back. The best thing that you can do is move on and work on being happy with yourself. Once you don't feel like you need him to live, or that your life is less fulfilling/valuable without him, you will be in a much better state of mind.
If he comes back, it will be of his own free-will, not of anything you have done. Try to keep busy and work on yourself for the time being, so that when life throws something at you down the road, you are better equipped to deal with it.
