    Return of Deposit
    I moved out my townhouse approximately 33 days ago. I provided a forwarding address; however, I have not received my security deposit. What do I do to get my full deposit. There were no damages to the property. As a matter of fact, it was jointly agreed by both parties for me to move due to the landlords failure to make repairs to my unit.

    Each state has different deadlines for return of the security deposit. Go to Chart: Deadline for Returning Security Deposits, State-by-State - Findlaw for the Public - for a chart that lists each state's deadlines. If the landlord has not returned your deposit, or a written, itemized accounting of your deposit within the appropriate timeframe, file a lawsuit in small claims court.
