Hello, my son and I got our first guinea pig a couple of weeks ago and the other morning he went out to get it and it was dead.
We fed it only the correct grain,carrot, brocholli and apple.
It was only two months old and showed no signs of illness.
Is this common and what could have been the cause of death?

You say "Out to get it" are you meaning outdoors, in a barn, porch?
Guinea pigs can't stand the cold, That alone will kill it.

Yes outside in a hutch with plenty of hey in it.

He survived colder nights than the one before we found him.

Also, we found him outside the hutch on the ground, still in his run.

Any ideas?

Yup, as I said, the cold killed it,
I use to raise and show Guinea pigs,
Their toleration level for cold is not very high,
He fought the cold and ultimately lost the battle,

I thought I could get away with the same thing,
Mine was with Rabbits, was in an insulated tight building with bales of hay for them to burrow in and make nests, They did great all summer long and even into the fall, But when winter hit,
A couple weeks of it and they all died,

Learned my lesson the hard way with that.

The cold killed it or even a good fright from a owl etc
Guinea pigs should not be left in a run during the night and they must be kept warm at all times. They are susceptible to phemonia and will die quickly. Is there also a chance that someone gave it cabbage?

Ok, sounds like it was the cold.

So, are you telling me that I need to keep them inside overnight from now on?
