20 HP Vtwin briggs engine pulley removal?
I have a 20 HP Briggs that needs the engine pulley removed. There were two pulleys on the shaft. The lower pulley was removed by simply removing a bolt at the lower end of the shaft. The upper pulley looks to be keyed for the shaft. I can not get this pulley to come loose. I have tried about every trick under the sun from PB Blaster, heat, gear puller, pry bar. Please someone help me out and tell me if what I am missing. I didn't see any other way to release this upper pulley.

    Thanks,

Could Have Set Screw Or Screws. Not Likely Though. And I Am Glad To See Someone Else Believes In Pb Blaster. The Pb May Stink A Little , But It Is Good Stuff.

I have the same issue with my 25hp briggs v twin... tried everything, just spent 6 hours and mangled the pulley... and it still didn't move even the slightest bit, I even drilled out the wood ruff key, I can find no other thing holding it on.

All I wanted to do was fix the push rod that wasn't lifting the valve. :-(

Put pressure on the pulley with a gear puller. Then heat the pulley (not the shaft) and it will release.
