Hi there everyone, I'm a military wife out here in Texas. My husband is currently serving overseas in Iraq. I may not approve of the exact reason why our boys are over there, I'm finding that a lot of people are personally blaming the soldiers. Why ?
Well I'm FOR the soldiers but TOTALLY AGAINST the reasons they are there.
Simple really.
I also have a friedn who is out there and it's seriously messing with his head.
Yeah I have a lot of buddies who are also serving with my husband and a lot of them are having a lot of psych problems. I feel terrible for them. I should've put in my original post how much Real Army Wives hate that ridiculous show on Lifetime called "Army Wives" It's ironic how falsely the show is made. There's not one ounce of truth to it. Make sure you tell your buddy to hang in there. The soldiers need all the extra support they can get! Thanks Curly!
Hmmmm, I have never heard anyone dissing the troops. Everything I've read and heard is wishing they will come home soon--and alive. The Bush administration is what gets dissed.
sugarpiehavoc, the troops have my utmost respect and gratitude. You can tell your husband thank you from the good folks up here in Texas Panhandle, that in this part of the country America Supports You!
Sugar, I am totally for our troops, maybe not the reason, but they did not create the reason. My father was a vet of Korea, I am proud that he served our country and I am proud your husband is serving our contry.
Although many people are having psychological issues, I have met many, MANY, MANY soldiers who have served there that are not having a hard time and are willing to go back for "the cause" as they say.

THANK YOU for all the sacrifices you make as well as your entire family. Oh our hearts and prayers are right there with our very brave men and women.
I myself and those that I know, are more than proud of our troops. We are so very proud.
We also our grateful to the troops around the world, who are our friends, and stand beside our very brave men and women.
Once again, THANK YOU.
If you only knew how very much we love our troops! May God continue to watch over them and bring them home safely and soon!!

Are you saying you are having a hard time with our troops who were sent over to Iraq? They did not have a choice. Haven't you ever heard "Don't shoot the messenger?" They are only doing what they are told to do. They aren't the ones that actually started the war.Quote:

All of the men that I know personally are willing to go back (I live right outside of a base). I have not met any, not saying there aren't, that are either not willing to go back, or that have suffered ill psychological effects.
I know that there are people who suffer greatly the effects of being in this war, I am just saying I have not, as of yet, met any.

Karma you got to be kidding me. I hear it all the time where Iive. Sure there are tons of people that support them but not everyone. There was this crazy baptist church lady awhile back saying that the soldiers were all committing sins and deserve to die and all kinds of weirdness.Quote:

I think I remember the whole outrage about that one church or ministry that had gotten together and started rallying at a soldiers funeral. It was absolutely absurd. I felt so horrible for the family. They had to deal with their sons death and try to defend his job at the same time. It's just crazy. I live here on post in Fort Hood and it's always insane. I find that a lot of the soldiers wives aren't very supportive. I know it's hard to be a soldiers wife but I know it also must be even harder to be a soldier and have to worry about saving your life, others lives and try to worry about things going on at home.
Oh dear, if you guys are talking about the Westboro Baptist Church then please be aware that pretty the whole world thinks they are crazy out of their skulls. I was referring to real, sane people. :D
I support the troops and their mission . I know many military families and I agree it has to be very tough on them . My cousin is on his third tour to Iraq ,and he also fought in Desert Storm . But it is tough to leave the family behind and his wife has had to pick up a lot of the slack at home.
Still when I talk to him her is convinced that he is where he needs to be and thinks that the mission they have been asked to do is a worthy one. He tells me the stories we hear at home do no reflect what is really happening there ,and that especially in the last few months there has been tremendous progress. When I read mil-blogs I am hearing generally the same story . They know what we are seeing and reading at home ,and it is not the narrative they would tell.
What he does emphasis is how important it is for them to hear from the homefront expressions of support for the troops no matter how someone feels about the war .
I do not see generally anyone blaming the troops except perhaps the few wackos . When my cousin recently returned to Texas on leave he said how he was greeted warmly by people at the airport. Some stopped and gave him an ovation ;some wanted to shake his hand ;others offered to pay for his meal or a drink . We recently had Fleet Week here in NY and the sailors were given first class treatment . Again ;these may be the stories the MSM neglects to report upon for whatever hidden agenda they have .
I'd say hang in there . Right or wrong;mistake or not , this phase of the war against jihadistan will wrap up by the end of the Bush Presidency I suspect . If there is a way your husbands unit can be reached perhaps we could collectively contact them and express our support and gratitude.And while I 'm at it;thank you for the personal sacrifice you have had to make.
