I have a 8 month old puppy that has started to pee in her sleep. She has a problem with peeing when she gets excited when she has not been out recently, but other than that she is potty trained and has few accidents. It began a few weeks ago when she had a few accidents a couple of day apart and I thought it was just that, an accident. However, tonight, within the span of an hour, she went where she had been sleeping, a good amount of urine, then climbed on my bed for not more than a few minutes before I moved her and there was a quarter size spot of urine. Then when I moved her back to the floor, about twenty minutes later she had gone a fair amount again. She has also been cleaning herself quite a bit tonight, but she usually does every time she goes so I do not know if that is simply what she is doing or if it is something more. Are these just puppy accidents or should I be worried?

I would take her to the vet ASAP.

I agree with bushg. This sounds like either an infection or a physical problem. You need to have the pup examined by your vet to determine what is the sudden cause of this.

Dogs/Puppies, some when overly excited or scared will pee uncontrollable,
Maybe a weak bladder or something, I had a Puppy once was around 5 months old,
He just started peeing where he slept, But he outgrew it with age,

However TO ME it doesn't sound like your describing anything similar to a normal puppy problem, Sounds like something more may be at play here.

I would say take it to the vets if your that concerned about it

Puppies tend to have a hard time controlling their bladder because they have weak sphincter, these are muscles that have to be strengthened with age. As they get older they gain more control. Some dogs are incontinent and cannot control when they urinate, but these are usually older dogs and it has to do with losing muscle control of their sphincters I have never heard of a puppy having this problem.
My best advice would be to take the puppy to the vet. Any usually behavior from an animal could be a signal that something is wrong. It could be a number of things, such as, crystals in the urine, an infection, blood in urine, etc... The vet will need a fresh urine sample so unless you can get one make sure you don't let the puppy use the bathroom right before taking him/her to the vet.

That is definitely not a normal puppy problem now. At 8 months a dog has most of the adult body and often has outgrown submissive wetting and piddling in excitement. Rather than speculate on what it is, I will just say get it to the vet. It is is a bacterial infection, antibiotics will knock it out quick.
