We've replaced the belt on our GE model DDP1380 SDMAD clothes dryer, but the belt's too loose. It's the same length as the old, broken belt. Is there any way to increase the tension on the idler pulley?

Check and make sure it's routed properly
Thanks, we had it routed wrong. Coming clockwise from under the dryer we sent the belt around the idler pulley, then around the motor, then back to the drum.

When we sentd the belt around the motor first, then the idler pulley, then back to the drum the belt's tightened correctly
