My toilet was making a continual buzzing sound and my brother replaced some pipe. As he did that he turned my water off etc. Now the buzzing sound is gone but then water was leaking at the bottom pipe that goes into the wall. So I turned off the water and thought that by lowering the water pressure coming out of the pipe the leaking would stop. It did but now I'm not sure how much is the right amount of pressure to allow to come through the pipe. I'm assuming this is why my toilet seems like it has no force when it flushes. The toilet paper even just ends up sitting there sometimes. PLEASE HELP ME!! I'm tired of having to use my neighbors toilet!! Thanks

The buzzing sound was likely the diaphram in the ballcock not sealing all the way. No pipes needed to be replaced then but now may be another matter. Lowering the pressure is no soultion but getting friendly with a plumber might be a great idea. Brother want to help but he's no plumber. He need to remove that pipe and replace or put new compound or teflon tape. He must be very careful removing that pipe since he could cause a leak inside th wall. Does it leak at the wall or at the 90 degree turn upwrd to the tank? If its at the 90 just remove that and leave the pipe in the wall. There should be a shut off at this 90 degree turn (angled stop cock. If there isn't one then have him (our a plumber) install one.

I believe he did put some tefelon or something around the pipe to get it to stop leaking. But now I don't know what setting to put the water at - in fact I can't even tell which way is turning the water up and which way is turning it down. I can't even use that toilet to do anything other than urinate because it won't flush it. Do you think I need to turn the water pressure up? And if so how? Thanks for your help!

Where are you adjusting the water pressure? Water pressure will have no effect on the flush in a regular tank toilet, the water simply flows with gravity from the tank. Is this a newer pressure flush type? Lift off the lid on the tank. Do you see water? Or another smaller tank?

Water pressure is not controlled by opening the valve a little or full way, that just adjust the amount of flow, the pressure stays the same through out the system. Toilet flushes with the water that is stored in your tank. Adjust that level by adjusting the valve inside or by adjusting your ball float. 1st try flushing your toilet with a bucket of water, if it flushes all the way then you will know that it does work and no clogs or bad vents are your problem. Then shout us back and we go from there. Maybe you flapper is not letting enough water down to flush. Try with the bucket and let us know.

Did your brother alter the depth of the water in the tank at all? Once a tank is 1/2" below the over flow tube it should flush fine even if it took a long time to fill the tank. What all did your brother work on here?
