My girlfriend and I are having a baby...

Q: Is there a way I can stop her from the leaving the state (California) with my child
Which will make it very difficult for me to visit my child if her an I are not going to
Work out? If so how do I go about it?

Thank you for any advice. I want to be a great father to my child and worry she won't let me. She is beginning to not talk to me about her feelings in all this more and more? :(

Pregnancy and hormone changes can effect the mother in a lot of ways.

Why do you think she will leave you? There will be times she just wants to be left alone and other times she will want you there.

It can be a very stressful time. Couple having a baby together.

Well if you asking if you can stop her while pregnant. The answer is no.

Can you stop her after she has a baby, not to sure. You would have to be listed on the birth certificate and you will need to seek custody if it does not work out, but I think your looking at things way too negatively.

Just going by what you wrote. If you want a better answer or more detailed then you will actually have to let us know what problems you think your having. What is happening that makes you think it will not work.

Well maybe I should have informed you that she was previously married and had left the state from her husband. So why wouldn't she do it again? I am aware of the hormonal changes and such but she's not the type to open up or talk about her emotions. She was like that before she got pregnant lol.

Now this situation exists. (not blaming anyone btw)

So I just want to take precautions is all.

I am pretty sure you can't stop her from leaving the state while pregnant. Just because she left her husband, it doesn't mean she will do it again. He is her ex hunsband for a reason I would imagine. If she won't talk, don't try to force her, just let her know you are there if she needs to talk and won't judge her. Pregnancy hormones can be awful, I used to get very violent while pregnant (never am the rest of the time lol!) some women get emotional, etc. Don't worry so much. If she does go, there are things you can do once she has had baby. By the way just wanted to say how great it is that you want to be a great dad, that's seems so rare to hear sometimes!

I have a child with a man that lives out of state and doesn't see my daughter. I wanted to move to another state a while ago and when I phoned the friend of the court to ask, they told me that I would have to have his permission even though he doesn't have contact with her, or I would have to petition the court to leave with her. They said that if I left with her without permission I would be held in contempt, even though I have FULL CUSTODY of her! Hope I helped!

I would say be nice to her and give her everything she desires. I also mean changes on your part if that is what she wants. Many pregnant women want to see physical signs of maturity out of her partner. I am not saying you are immature I'm just handing out keep the pregnant girl advice. If she feels like she does not owe you anything she will be more likely to leave and compromise your ability to raise the child. You really have lower chances of keeping contact with the child if you are not dating her or living near her (at least for the first few months of the Child's life in witch you can go to court and establish legal custody). If you have a great deal money for a really good legal team and privet investigator you might still have a chance if she runs. I hope the best for you and your family.

Hopefully she's smart enough to stay and even if thinks are hard between you two, she'll stay and try and make things work, just remind her to think of what's best for the baby, to have a mommy and a daddy!
