Bathtub backing up into Laundry Tubs
My shower drain was running slow, so after pouring liquid plumber down it to get it moving again, I went downstairs and noticed the laundry tub was backed up with murky brown water on both sides (it's divided) and I could smell the liquid plumber in it. The tub for some reason backed up into the laundry tubs. Can you tell me why and what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

You blockage is not at or in the tub drain but much further down stream. Do you have any clean outs on the main drain or vent stack? Stop with the liquid plumber for now. It will interfer with some of the things we need to try. Come back with your answer about the clean out and also has the water level dropped.

The water has completely drained, but definitely left a brown residue in the sinks. I'm totally new to plumbing, and relatively new to homeownership. I do know when I had a backup last winter that was coming out of the floor drain and had Roto Rooter out, they said I have a stack. I'm not sure where the clean out on it is. Maybe that's something you can help me out with?

Lancey, we try to match your skill level with our answers to avoid injury or making things worse. If you already had the Roto boys out during the winter call them back and tell them its plgged again. They may warranty their work or at least be able to get on your rooof to snake. I don't snake from the foof in most cases because of the roff pitch and I don't own enough equipement to do two story homes.
