    Was I Scammed?
I am pretty new to this bank stuff. I opened an account with wells fargo not too long ago, got a credit card and have had good credit blah blah.

THis woman called me today from "Membership Services" based in Florida. They are offering free trips to people with good credit and stuff like that. I said I was not interested. She had ALL my information, my name, routing number, address... She said "Hanna honey, you do not understand, everything is paid for.."

SHe sounded very friendly and very convincing, and I finally agreed. I gave her my account number with out realizing what I did until I hung up! She did give me her name and her extension so that I may get ahold of her. I called back and it said "Welcome to Membership Services" blah blah

Anyway, I got scared and called Wells Fargo and they said they do not have a branch in Florida and they would call us for stuff like that. Anyway, I am closing my acount, but I have money from work I sent in still pending.

I am just really scared. It sounds like a scam right? Can anyone confirm this?

How can you win a contest you didn't enter? It's dad that these scammers exist but well done on following your intuition. As a rule never conduct business over the phone, espcially when it comes to giving out your personal info. Mail and face to face, even reputable shopping web sites (Amazon, etc.) are safer.

I didn't really win it. It is because I have had outstanding credit and it's a "Reward" haha.

Anyway, I am really nervous. I have to wait until the pending checks go through before I can completely clear it.

I know this sounds stupid but I am bummed about closing this specific acount because my account numbers were SOOOO easy to remember. A two year old could remember them! Haha. Gosh darn it.

I thought about calling the woman back and maybe having her talk to a wells fargo representative... but then I hung up before I reached her extension because I figured if she knew I was suspicious maybe they would take immediate action..

If they say they are in Florida it's a scam. They probably just had you sign up for a service that is going to cost you $10 a month for the next year and they will give you a trip but in will be almost impossible to redeem. They generally try to keep the cost below a certain amount so it's not worth the average person to go to take them to court in Florida. Pay close attention to your credit report for the a couple of months and from now on never sign up for any thing over the phone never say anything that can be doctored to make it sound like you said yes to there service cause if you go to court it's up to you to prove that the tape is doctored simply tell them to send you information in the mail if they refuse they are probably a scam and not worth your time. Good move closing the account right away though.

I didn't give them my credit card info.

And the only areason I knew they were in Florida was because my phone says the state of the person who is calling
