OK I'm finishing my basement by myself, I have everything roughed in and electrical is all done. Time to start the plumbing. I have a few questions, first it is a new construction (1yr old home) and I was told it was roughed for a bath in the basement already. Here is what I see in my basement can anyone help as to what goes where? First there is a square cut out with gravel in it that I thoght would be for the toilet however when I removed the gravel it is only a 2" drain so i assume that is suppose to be the drain for the shower that i dont plan on using. then standing up just off the concrete wall is one 2" pipe coming off the ground about 3' and about 3' next to that is another 2" pipe standing up about three feet. when i pour water in these they both appear to drain into my ejector pit just a few feet away. can i use one of these for my vanity drain? and what is the other one for? also there is a 3" or so pipe coming out of the ground about 1' I assume this is for my toilet and it also drains into the same pump.

2nd part of my question. I plan on putting a wet bar in the basement only about 8' from the bathroom. Without digging up the concrete slab is it possible to drain and vent this sink through the newly roughed in wall to the drains in the bathroom??

Doesn't the rough in already have a vent stack in the wall? If not it sure isn't a very good rough int. If the stack is there you should be able to tie in but you'll have some pipe above the floor where a bath may be down the road. If there ia no stavk you may need to consider a Studor vent or AAV.

You have more problems to worry about then a wet bar , my friend.
First, the square hole is a tub dap out, it should center about 15 1/2" off the wall. The 3" picks up the toilet. Now here comes the "worry part". VENTING! The two 2" pipes are vents. One venting the fixtures as they drain into the pit and the other vents the pit. One connects to the drain line going to the pit and the other comes out of the pit itself.
You may cut in a sanitary tee into the fixture vent to pick up the lavatory and continue on out the roof or revent back into a dry vent in the attic.
However the other vent is a DEDICATED PIT VENT. This means it CAN NOT be connected back to any other vent but MUST exit by itself. Your job will be to figure out which is which,( if you mix them up ypu're in a world of hurt.)
As for the bar sink. If you wish you can tie back to the fixture vent with the drain but will have to install a upright tee just downstream of the bar sink trap and run a vent over to revent back to the fixture vent. While you may use a AAV on the fixture vent you MAY NOT use one on the pit vent. This vent MUST be clear to the outside. Good luck, Tom

OK you somewhat answered some of my questions about my new bathroom and wet bar in my basement, so now how do I get more advice? Hopefully you remember my post but here is my lay out. First the house is new and I am finishing my basement. I have finished most of the rough carpentry work. Lets start with the bathroom when I look at the existing pipes here is what I see starting from left to right in the corner. First a 12" or so square hole that is filled with gravel, when i uncovered this hole the pipe is 2" and I would like to use this as the drain for my vanity in the bathroom? Next to that hole sticking up out of the cement are two 2" pipe coming up about 3' one of the pipes has an empty piece of conduit next to it sticking up slightly but i dont think this is relavent. in front of those (vent) pipes i have a 3" pipe sticking up about 1' that assume is for the toilet. All of these when water is poured into them go into the ejector (sump pump) 2' to the right of everything. From what I remember about the sump pump and I can give you more info if needed. There is a large pipe coming out of it maybe 2 or 2 1/2" that goes straight up with a open/close valve attatched to it and another 2" pipe coming out of it that looks like it goes all over the place but then up to maybe the roof. Now for the wet bar- it is about 8' down the wall near the bathroom.. I have figured with a slight drop of the drain 1/2" or so per foot that I can run the drain inside the wall and easily tie right into the same drain as the vanity. However how do I vent this and how large does the drain and vent need to be for a very small wet bar sink. Anyway - I can take a picuture of my lay out and send it to you or something like that as long as I don't have to pay too much. Any help is appreciated as I am going to begin to take on the plumbing this weekend. I'm starting with the supply lines first. Thank you,dan
