    Want silky skin
Ok, I am new here and one of the reasons I joined is because I am obsessed with the idea of having soft, silky skin. I try different moisturizers each month... and because I'm at college my health isn't that great, which would attribute to my oily, slightly blemished, and rough skin. I exfoliate and try different masks. So far my favorite is Neutrogena's Advanced Solutions facial peel, which actually washes off, not peels off... but I'm looking more for an everday cream/regime/diet that would help achieve the glowing compexion that I yearn for. I also don't load on make-up... just soft powder if any. Please help! Any advice, home remedies, cream names... anything would be greatly appreciated! THank you

    Easy and effective
    Hi lucy,

One thing to remember is that using peels and products that have alcohol in them are just as damaging to the skin as not doing anything at all, if they are used too frequently.

I have dealt with some severely blemised and problematic skin in my salon days, but I have found that 99% of the clients noticed dramatic improvements from simply washing their face with a soft cleanser at night before bedtime to cleanse off dirt, excess dry skin, etc. The best recommendation for that is Dove facial cleanser with exfoliating beads. This stuff is wonderful for the skin. Wash your face every night with that, pat it dry with a clean towel and then apply a cream made by Ponds. It's in a little blue and white container and says on the front, "Extra dry skin cream." Apply that to a clean face and go to bed. Simply wash it off in the morning.

Another tip to remember is this. If you use the same powder applicator every day, it harbors bacteria that is extremely harmful to the skin. So changing that often is another key to better skin. This applies to foundation applicators too, if you use foundation. They should never be used more than twice if you can help it.

Drink water too if you can. Water provides natural oxygen to the skin and really helps. No particular diet really helps more so than any other. That is unless you have a dermatological issue going on. You'd need to see a doctor for that diagnosis.

As for the rest of your body, I have found a body wash that is extremely wonderful for the skin. It's made by Oil of Olay and is in the yellow and white container. It contains Shea Butter. If you can find straight Shea butter, get it! Simply apply that all over your body. You can't find a better moisturizer than that one. Otherwise, get this body wash and keep using it. After a while, you will see a difference in health and glow of your skin.

I hope this helps, hon! Any other questions, feel free to ask me. Good luck!

    What about botanicals?
The best thing I have EVER done for my skin was to start using botanically-based products instead of all the chemically based stuff that is so prevalent in the U.S. market. When you think about what kinds of foods make a healthy diet, it's lots of fruits and veggies. So doesn't it make sense to feed your skin the same kind of diet? My skin has never been healthier, smoother, silkier, clearer, etc. etc. etc. I could go on for a long time! The line I've found that works the best is Arbonne. Email me at [email protected] is you want more info.
