Can I snake a drum trap bathtub?
    OOOOHHHH, I'm sooo frustrated!
We are having our bathtub redone in just a few weeks complete with a replacement of the drum trap. The bathtub has been draining slow for quite some time and yesterday decided to stop draining completely. The bathtub upgrade absolutely cannot be moved any closer because the tub overlay is being made and isn't ready yet.
I don't want to spend a ton of money on a plumber when we are spending LOTS of money in just a few weeks to get the whole thing taken care of. We've tried multiple clog busting chemicals and none has worked.
Can I snake a drum trap? Any other helpful suggestions?? It would kill me to spend cash on a plumber just weeks before a complete replacement!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

OK its time for grandpas home brew. Try this, mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup salt and dump into the tub drain. Add two cups of vinegar and let the bubbling mess sit over night. Tomorrow dump a bucket of near boiling water and I'll bet you drain is better than in years. If it works do it again in a week or two.

Can I do this if there is standing water in the tub? There is about an inch or so of water near the drain.
    Thanks for the response!!

It would work better if you could get that water out. Try holding a wet rag over the vent on the tub wall below the spout. Now try a plugger, push hard and fast and pull hard.

"Can I snake a drum trap?"

No, a drum trap is built different then a "P" trap, (see image). While it's not
Possible to snake a drum trap from the tub if you remove the cover and clean out the gunk in there you can send a snake down the rest of the drain line.
    Good luck, Tom
