Dell 5100 dim display on startup
I have a Dell 5100 laptop with XP Professional and started to have a problem when I turned the laptop on after it had been off for several days. It will boot up OK but the screen is very dim. You can barely see the desktop. You can open and close it but it doesn't help. You have to turn off and reboot. Most of the time that works. This started to happen when my battery went dead and I was using my laptop at home on AC power. I replaced the battery and that helped but it still does it sometimes. It happens only if the laptop is not used in a couple of days. Are there any power setting that I need to check? I checked display settings and could not find any problem there. Has anyone else had this problem? Help!
    Pfb:confused:

Lcd backlight or the inverter has blown.
    Either can be replaced.
I've doen about 50 of them. Backlights are harder, but the part is only $20.
