Just a quick one, I am thinking of traveling soon to find myself as allot of people seem to after a break up. Asking around people I know allot of people seem to find their partners on their trips.

Who here has traveled, what were your experiences and did you go alone? Did you meet your current partner.

I went to costa rica alone 4 years ago, it was fab..

When going through breakup misery it's the best thing to do.

I've never found any partner on a trip, usually I'm like a hermit though when I go alone:)

I'm going away to P.R. in July for a week... I hope I find someone there... lol

I have travelled widely to Europe and US of A... and must say it's best to visit places where you can connect yourself... like with lots of natural beauty. And as fas as finding your partner is concerned, you will surely find one at the right time at the right place... just wait and see... enjoy.

I recommend somewhere in nature doesn't have to be backwoods with no plumbing or anything but just somewhere away from the major cities.

I have traveled and have met interesting people but it seems to stop there. Possibly because I always wondered - how in the world could this fascinating "friendship" extend into anything past the vacation? If there is a "shipboard" romance, enjoy it and yet don't pin any hopes on it. Most times I traveled just to find some solitary, not to find a companion. Best place was Canada, up by Flin Flon. Beautiful, quiet, fishing, not too touristy (at that time), and peaceful. The most fast paced place was Rio. It seemed like there was never a night or day, people were up all the time and always doing something.

Never did find a partner in any of my travels, but then I was not looking for one.

I am now traveling and studying abroad in America. Many times I am confused about culture here. Some goodness of it I can learn from, and some I don't think is good. More benefit I reap is from learning about difference and improve myself. Luckily I meet many nice people, for instance, my adviser. He helped me a lot. I believe when traveling, people could meet many good friends.

I have been to Egypt, most of Spain, France, Turkey, Amsterdam, Ibiza, the canary islands and the Balearic islands. I did most of these places alone and to be quite frank, it is more fun that way. Egypt was my favourite and I learned to Scuba Dive in the U.K before I got out there and it was a great experience over there. I also always wanted to see the pyramids and experience the culture. To date, it was the most interesting place I have visited. You meet so many people when you do it alone as you tend to mingle with people you meet. I recommend anywhere which has a whole different culture to the way of life you live in and are used to.

Don't go anywhere that is commercialised as a lot of these places are geared towards lager louts and don't offer much in the sense of experiencing a country for what it really is.

The thing to remember about traveling alone is that spontaneity is the key to making it a memorable experience. You will also learn a lot more alone and perhaps even learn more about yourself too.

On the 8 hour coach journey from Sharm-el-sheikh to Cairo, I spent at least 2 of those hours in the on-board toilet and learned not to eat salad that has been washed in water my British *** isn't used to... LOL
