    Late.and negative test
Hello My name is Sarah. I am married and have an 8 month old son. I went off my birth control about 3 months ago. Because my husband and I wanted to try for our last child. I am usually very regular. And I have not had a period in about 2 1/2 weeks. But I got a negative test result. I am frustrated because I am expirencing all the symptoms of pregnancy that I had with my first son. Sore boobs peeing every 15 min lol. I am dizzy and nauseated and very irritable. When I took my test I believe it was negative but as I look at it now I think maybe I see a VERY VERY (almost you cannot see it) faint pink line LIKE VERY FAINT. And I am wondering if maybe I am pregnant or if I am just seeing things lol. I don't know. I could use some help here.

    Thank you

    Sarah;)

Try another brand of pregnancy test. Also, pee in a cup to make sure you have enough urnie on the test.

You said " as I look at it now". So how long has it been since you took the test? With most tests, there is a time limit, before and after which you can't expect the reading to be accurate. If you read the test after about 10 minutes (I think its about ten minutes on average with all tests) any lines that may appear are possibly evaporation lines. Also, 2 1/2 weeks late isn't incredibly long. I don't know how long it took you to get pregnant with your first son, but even if you got pregnant right away, there is no guarantee it will happen within that same time frame this time around. I got pregnant so quickly with my first son, that I got really worried about how long it was taking me to get pregnant the second time around. It ended up taking 12 months to get pregnant the second time, and I had a perfect bill of health. Mainly I think it took so long because I was stressing over it, and jinxing myself. Stress is a big factor when it comes to delaying your periods, and trying to conceive. I would wait two more weeks. If you miss your second period, take another test. If its still negative, go see your doctor. It could be that your hcg levels just aren't high enough to register on an hpt yet. Good luck!

It was about 15 min later when I looked at the test again. But it was so faint I don't know if I am imagining it lol. I am not stressed out at all. It took me 7 months to get pregnant with my first son. I have been reading online and the test I used isn't very good for catching hgc levels. Because of a low sensitivity. Thank you for your help. And thanks for the luck

Yeah, it probably that the faint line is just an evaporation line. Like I said, it could just be that your levels aren't high enough to register yet. However, it could be the stress factor. If you are stressing a lot, you can always go to your local hospital and get a qualatative blood test done. This test is more accurate then hpts, and not much more expensive. However, it only gives a positive or negative read out, and if your levels still aren't high enough to register, you may be getting a negative, when you might be pregnant. SO, in the end its up to you, but I would personally wait two more weeks for your next period before taking the next step. Good luck hun, I hope you get your positive test results soon, if you aren't pregnant already.
