Each time I go to look at my e mail (Outlook Express) I get this message: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact program vendor". I can't seem to get rid of it and it has been happening for the last 2 or 3 weeks. Please tell me how to fix this. Slimmer.

First question - What version of Windows are you using? If it's Windows ME - unlucky!

Anyway, my best bet would be that there is some part of Outlook Express that isn't working properly. Do you have any programs that try to add functionality to Outlook Express like ICQ, possibly AOL? If so, try disabling these before opening Outlook Express.

That said, maybe downloading it off the internet again and reinstalling may help.

If you still can't fix it, may I recommend Thunderbird - http://www.mozilla.org/products/ . It's a free email client but I prefer it to Outlook Express and so do many other people.


The trouble with this problem is that it could be absolutely anything causing Outlook to crash.
